Gary Sitton, Director of Winemaking & General Manager
Gary Sitton brings a passion for Sonoma County, its landscape and its wine to his role as Director of Winemaking and General Manager at Ravenswood. Gary has spent his entire winemaking career in Sonoma County: first at Sommer Vineyards, then at Ravenswood and most recently at Clos du Bois Winery. During this time, he has developed a strong appreciation for the diversity of Sonoma County's vineyards, soils and microclimates, and the unique range of wines they produce.
He believes making quality wine begins with the vineyards and growers. He's committed to forging strong relationships with growers and spending hands-on time in the vineyards. By selecting grapes that truly express the unique character of specific appellations and vineyards, Gary is able to craft wines that capture the seemingly unlimited array of flavors and aromas that Sonoma County has to offer.
Gary has an M.S. in food science: enology & viticulture from the University of California at Davis. In his free time he enjoys countless outdoor activities including hiking, cycling, golf and fly fishing.
Andrea Furber Card, Winemaker
Andrea Card can trace her Sonoma County roots back through four generations. Her great grandparents grew grapes in the northern reaches of the county prior to prohibition and instilled a deep, family wide, connection to nature and the land. Andrea began her career at Benziger Family Winery working her way through all levels of Winemaking and Production. Andrea has managed Wine Laboratories, Cellar crews, Crush Pads, Bottling Lines and led Benziger's Biodynamic, Organic and Sustainable certification processes. In 2015, Andrea became an Associate Winemaker and was responsible for crafting a large segment of the luxury Direct-to-Consumer wines. In 2017, Andrea joined the dynamic team at Ravenswood as a Winemaker.
The wines that excite her are those that are allowed to show their full personality – unmanipulated from the site where they were grown. The vast array of differences a vineyard site can have on the expression of the wine can be seen time and time again from the unique vineyards and wines crafted from those special places in Sonoma County and beyond.
