Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
A dark ruby color with lively scents of dark cherry, boysenberry, tea and spice with equally pleasing flavors of berry, baking spice, and vanilla cream. This wine is full-bodied, well rounded, and mouth-filling, yet with a smooth silky tannin finish
Vineyard Notes
While there is little agreement on how old a grapevine must be to earn “old vine” status, there’s no arguing that the Bedrock Vineyard is one of the oldest vineyards in Sonoma County. Grape vines planted in the 1880’s are still producing opulent wines, and this homage to the “Field Blends” of early California make up our Bedrock Red Blend. Reminiscent of the Claret style of wines in the post-Gold Rush, pre-Prohibition era when multiple varieties would be planted in a single row of vines, planted in a patchwork quilt pattern. Growers of the era would often pick all of the grapes at the same time, even if they weren’t equally ripe and co-ferment them together.
92 Points

Broad aromas of wild berry and fruitcake spices lead to focused and refined raspberry, orange peel and licorice flavors. Zinfandel, Carignane, Alicante and Petite Sirah. Drink now through 2024.

91 Points

This opaque and dark ruby red colored blend from Ravenswood opens with a ripe plum and blackberry jam bouquet with a hint of boysenberry. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic, juicy and a little fruit forward. The flavor profile is a mild mineral infused stewed plum with notes of gentle blackberry and tea. I also detected hints of oak and a touch of strawberry rhubarb towards the end. The finish is dry and its mild tannins drift away nicely. This blend is food friendly and would pair well wiht a pork tenderloin with fig. Enjoy.
