77.1% Zinfandel, 7.8% Petite Sirah, 7.6% Carignane, 7.5% Alicante Bouschet.
A notably dark ruby color enhanced by the Alicante Bouschet, this wine is rich in aromas of baking spices, boysenberry, cassis, tea, molasses, and violets. Full bodied on the palate with flavors blackberry jam and vanilla cream. The 2014 vintage of Bedrock may be the best of all vintages.
Vineyard Notes
Bedrock Vineyard is one of Sonoma County’s oldest wine properties with some of the Zin and Mixed Black planting dating back to 1888. Originally owned by M.G. Vallejo, the vineyard has had many characters as owners including Union General Hooker, George Hearst, father of William Randolph Hearst, and now our very own Joel Peterson. It is a beautiful vineyard with three creeks running through and Moon Mountain rising up over the east. These historic vines produced the best pre-Prohibition wines of California, the “California Clarets” that first put the state on the world maps. And today, tradition continues in Bedrock.
