2008 Belloni Zinfandel
Ravenswood has been harvesting grapes from the Russian River Valley’s Belloni Vineyard since 1991. This family-owned vineyard of magnificent old vines, that were lovingly tended to by the late Ricardo Belloni, is a family affair. Carrying on Ricardo’s legacy, his wife, Natalie, works with their children and grandchildren to care for the vineyard and preserve its heritage.
The 2008 Belloni has all the complexities one expects of a field blend co-fermentation that includes Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignane and Alicante Bouschet. Dark fruit, boysenberry and plums with highlights of tobacco, apricot, licorice and mocha lead to a rich, clean, slightly jammy, soft finish with velvety tannins that repeats the ripeness and complexity first conveyed by the aromas.
